"Deliverance Creek" is a revenge drama centering on a widow and mother of three who is determined to protect her family and land at any cost during the Civil War. 

Two years into the Civil War, Belle Gatlin Barlowe (Lauren Ambrose) faces uncertainty in the life before her as she attempts to defend her family’s land by any means necessary.  When the corrupt bank that runs their town pushes Belle into becoming an outlaw, the stakes become personal, setting off a chain of events that force her to question whether it’s better to be good or to survive.

Sets and costumes from the Steven Spielberg movie, "Lincoln" to go on display at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum complex

 Key sets, costumes and props from the award-winning movie “Lincoln” are coming to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, where they will be on display for many years to come. Children can explore the exhibit free of charge when accompanied by an adult.

 The exhibit, “Lincoln: From History to Hollywood,” will present Lincoln’s office, where much of the movie takes place as the president ponders how to pass a constitutional amendment abolishing slavery, and a vignette of Mary Lincoln’s bedroom, the setting for emotional confrontations between husband and wife

It will be displayed at Union Station, just across the street from the presidential museum. The station will serve as an annex to the presidential museum, where visitors can tour the exhibit and see video presentations about the movie. The exhibit opens early in 2014.

An iconic gown from 1939 film Gone With the Wind will hit the auction block at Bonhams in New York this November—and is expected to bring in between $50,000 and $70,000.

The blue accordion-pleated silk sleeping gown features angel sleeves and blue satin ribbon detailing—the dress is inscribed "Name Scarlett / No. 108-W.W. 381" in the back, where it also bears the label "Selznick Int. Pictures Inc." The dress is worn in a tragic scene in the film where Scarlett and Rhett Butler's daughter, Bonnie Blue, falls off a horse and dies.

What's so exciting about this dress is that, for nearly 40 years, it was assumed lost. According to a report in the Daily Mail, instead of archiving this costume, the costume company gave the dress to one of the seamstresses working on set—and the dress didn't surface again until the '80s, when it was purchased by a memorabilia collector.

"She wears this negligee under a fox fur in the scene where Bonnie Blue Butler has the fall off the pony and dies," Catherine Williamson, Bonhams' director of fine books, manuscripts, and entertainment memorabilia, tells the Mail. "For many years collectors thought this piece was lost—no one could find it. It wasn’t at the big MGM auction in the ‘70s and it wasn’t at the Western Costume Company, the company that made the costumes for the film."

He's captured and his brother frees him, then the tide turns and it's Homer who has to rescue his brother. When the North retakes the town, Homer must use all his wits - and a few short logs of wood - to save himself. Have he and Jeb met before?

I've waited 50 years for this movie.

This weekend Disney releases, John Carter, the first movie adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' A Princess of Mars.  As a young reader in the 1960s I was intrigued by the main character. John Carter was one of the few Confederate heroes in adventure fiction.  

Carter, a Confederate captain is transported to Barsoom (Mars) where he becomes embroiled in another Civil War; not one of his choosing. But like our Civil War, the war on Barsoom  could be rightly called, "a rich man's war and a poor man's fight." Carter becomes embroiled in a struggle that changes the future of his new world.

As unique as John Carter is there have been a hand full of Confederate movie heroes.  from Cold Mountain, The Outlaw Josey Wales, and even Birth of a Nation, Confederate soldiers have been portrayed as both noble and broken.  see more at  Screen Junkies.
