Honor Integrity Fidelity Truth
This is the story of my family. My search for one Civil War ancestor has lead to another and another and.... well, who knows how many more?
My famly is from the South, but we have Union Soldiers in our line. It was not uncommon for brothers to take up arms together and fight side by side. It was also not uncommon for family to stand across the same battlefield, same war, same country, same blood. Many died together. But sometimes:
“His father told him, ‘I heard that you had joined the Union Army. If we see each other across the battlefield, you shoot over my head and I’ll shoot over your head,’” Jackson said. “It was really quite strong acknowledgement of the family relationship.” Infozone
These men left thier homes to fight and left thier families behind. Many never saw those families again. Passon Mullinex (CSA) died of Typhoid fever on Lookout Mouantain. James Plotner (US) died in battle in Newberne, North Caorlina.
They took a stand for us. Now, we stand for them.
This is their story.
